International Atomic Energy Agency





The International Atomic Energy is one of the particular office of the UN that is dedicated to spare the atomic vitality. This UN association works with its accomplice countries in advancing sheltered and secure utilization of the atomic innovations.

The IAEA was set up on 29 July 1957. At the early start of its foundation, the IAEA was a self-governing association and was free of the United Nations. W. Sterling Cole was the primary Director General of the IAEA from 1957 to 1961.

The three primary columns or the ranges of work under the IAEA's main goal is Safety and Security; Science and Technology; and Safety and Verification. The IAEA is not under the UN's control but rather it reports to the UN and in addition the Security Council.

The IAEA board comprises of 22 part countries which represent the association. Among the 22, 10 part are chosen by the active board. The ten countries are chosen in light of the most exceptional and wide measure of nuclear vitality that they contain.

The present General Director of the IAEA is Amano Yukiya. He has been responsible for the association since 2009. He was beforehand a chief of Science Division in the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
