International Monetary Fund






The International Monetary Fund is a specialised organization of the UN to foster global monetary cooperation, secure financial stability, facilitate international trade, promote high employment and sustainable economic growth, and reduce poverty around the world.

It was established under the idea of Harry Dexter White and John Maynard Keynes in 1944. The primary work of the IMF is to main a standard and stable monetary system- exchange rates and prices etc. all around the world. 

There are 189 countries as the members of the INF and 24 directors each representing a single country or a group of countries. The approximate staffing of the INF is 2700 from 148 countries. This organization also helps the member nations experiencing balance of payment difficulties. 

The Managing Director of the IMF is Christine Lagarde and she has been holding the post from 5 July 2011. Previously she has hold various ministerial post in the French Government.
